Freedom!!

This is a shot of my gorgeous wife Joelle seeing snow for the 1st time!
We took a sensational holiday to the U.S in Feb 2011 and one of the highlights was walking through the snow in Central Park, New York City.

I love the freedom expressed in the pic - seeing the world through child-like wonder!

The reason for the holiday was to celebrate 4 fabulous years marriage :)

New Book title

Am having a brilliant time at the moment up in Broome with Joelle & mum & dad.
We're continuing to celebrate 3 years, while the parents celebrate their 36th on 16th feb.
36!! I asked them for some keys to success and they said it was just a rock solid commitment
that divorce was not an option, they told themselves there was no escape option or plan b if things got tough.
Was really inspiring to hear, as we look to people with 33 years experience over us! & now Dad wants to write
a book about their marriage called 'Not An Option.'
sounds like it could be a best seller :)

it's encouraging to have role models who've paved the way for us, & gives us a great vision to look forward to,
so thanks mum and dad, you guys are alright ay!

A wife Is for life - pt 2

Well I didn't realise that when I said "a wife is for life" in a previous post that I was actually quoting scripture.. But Ecclesiastes has some lovely instructions for long term marriage. "Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love." Ecclesiastes 9:9. .. Amen to that!!

Changing & Adapting

It's amazing the way you adapt to a new environment and style of life so quickly.. before i was married i was a single bed man, spent heaps of time at home by myself, and was quite used to waking up alone, which was quite comfortable.

Nearly 2 years down the track i find it really strange to spend too much time in the house without joelle there.. recently she was a bridesmaid for a friend and spent the night at the brides house.. and it was horrible! waking up with no wife!! no fun.

I don't think its healthy to be a dependant person, but i do like the way we grow closer over time and become even more important in each others lives.. its nice.. and i guess the practical fulfillment of the bible saying they are 'to cleave to one another and become one.'

The future looks great!

So far so good :)

Well i've been happily married for over 18 months now, and Joelle had a great idea to take a pic on every anniversary.

So here's some shots from year number 1, standbye for the next 50.. but it'll take a while to load them so just be patient. hehe

Gotta have a long term vision!

PoL's new motto.

"A wife is for life!"

I hate the idea of divorce and the way people go into marriage with an open door to get out whenever they want. It dissapoints me.

It's frustrating to know so many friends who's lives have been mixed up either by their own separation, or by their parents divorce. It's an awful legacy to leave a child, but an all too common scenario.

This is why God condemns divorce so intensely in the bible, not to judge or condemn people, but warn us away from the harmful consequences on generations of people. If it can be avoided in any plausible way then it should be.

So my motto which i'm speaking out is "A wife is for Life," i like to consciously remind myself i've made a committment which i cannot get out of. Everyone knows the wedding vows, that we agree to be together for better or worse, till death do us part, but they get treated like a romantic speech people make for the sake of tradition, as opposed to the reality that you are going to be with someone for the rest of your life.

If you believe in something then you speak it out. I will be with Joelle for life, and then re-connect and renew my vows with her in Heaven, because a wife is for life!
